If you are looking for great customer service and honest pricing, then these three are the guys to call first. Tim always calls in a timely manor with answers to your hard to describe car issues. They really give a lot of options that fit your budget. I will definitely be back in 3000 miles. Nick Metairie,LA

My car stranded me in the Dorignac's parking lot a few weeks ago and I was left to the wolves of Metry. Yelp to the rescue! After searching the reviews of places in the area, I noticed that the repair shop right across the street had excellent reviews. Tim's has earned their rating! I was in touch with Tim early in the morning. He coordinated a tow and even helped get my keys delivered by cab so that I didn't have to leave my house. He was extremely honest and helpful on the phone. He fixed the major problem with the car, but told me of the other problems that I was having with my older vehicle and recommended I start shopping for a new one pretty soon. The pricing was fair and I was very pleased with the work done. I will be using his services again for any future auto needs.

Somewhat like Heather R. said, probably my biggest area of apprehension in day-to-day life is being a woman who needs auto repair. Based on Yelp reviews, it was a tie between Tim's and CARS. I called Tim's first and, by the middle of the conversation, I knew that I had made the right call. I said that I needed a 50,000-mile-whatever-they-do and maybe the tires need to be rotated and that my brakes sometimes squeak and that the truck doesn't start nearly as quickly as it used to. Tim described, calmly and without any hint of salesmanship, what they charge for an inspection and in which case they do not charge for the inspection (when there is actual work to be done and they do the work). I got to the shop (near West End off Vets on Aris) and had a seat on the VERY comfortable (and clean) leather couch while they searched for the source of the [dreaded] "click." They did the oil change, etc., replaced the battery and said that they think they know what the click is, that it is not harming anything, and that it will have to wait for another day (it was getting late) when they would rotate the tires and remove the entire brake mechanism to figure out the click. They made me aware of a small leak in my water pump (and showed it to me) and here is what I appreciated the most and why Tim's gets five stars from me: They did not try to scare me into replacing the water pump "right away lest I be stranded on a dark deserted highway." Instead, he suggested I prepare for the cost, keep a close eye on puddles and come by in a couple weeks so he could check it. They did zero "upselling" or "you really should" crap. That is the kind of professionalism and honesty that makes loyal customers like me!

We started bringing our Corolla to Tim's when we were in graduate school 20 years ago. Tim's kept it running and running and running (until Katrina flooded it). Another grad student recommended Tim's, saying, "I trust them implicitly." We quickly realized she was right.

Tim's is the most helpful, honest car service with whom I've ever had the pleasure of doing business. They charge you for an evaluation, and it's the best money you could spend on your car. I took my car there after it flooded and they taught me how to repair it myself free of charge. I took it back when I had further problems and instead of charging me exorbitant fees trying to revive it, they just suggested that it was time to replace it. When I was shopping around for a new vehicle, I test drove cars straight to their shop to get their opinion. If you've never had the opportunity to have a good experience with a mechanic, try Tim's - you'll be surprised how great it is to talk with people who so obviously take pride in their work. If you live anywhere in the New Orleans area, don't take your car anywhere else.

Can you think of anything worse than being: new in town, Female...and seeing the SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT appear in your car? I took a chance- based on Yelp reviews and hoping they wouldn't rip me off. The main guy in charge is the Dad (Tim), his 2 sons work for him and they were all so great. They didn't make me feel like the dreaded helpless female, and I got a kick out of the father/son banter going on in the shop (did I just use the word banter?!) and they explained the expected repair costs before they started the work. Yeah-hoo! I found an honest mechanic! Thank u Yelp :)

I recently traded in my very old car for a low mileage Honda Fit. Tim helped me with the whole process from beginning to end. First off, he advised me that my old car really wasn't safe to drive any more, and gave me advice on possible cars to buy to replace it. When I bought another car several months later, he checked it over thoroughly and helped me with some problems I had after. It was an exhausting worrisome process, and I so appreciated how generous he was with his time talking things over with me. He impresses me as an exceptionally kind and honest person.

I'm going to be really honest. I am a 23-year old woman with absolutely NO auto-expertise. So when my little Corolla started making "noises" I brought it to Tim's because of the reviews on Yelp. I could not have asked for better service. Tim Jr. rode in my car with me to listen to the noise (which ended up being some loose flappy thing), checked my breaks, and tightened up the noise-maker. And guess what! They did it FREE OF CHARGE. Absolutely free... Their reasoning? Because it there was nothing mechanically wrong with my car, so why should I be charged? Jaw-dropping, right? They could have easily charged me $50+, $100+... and I would have never known the difference. That people, is great, honest costumer service.
